Practical work

AQA GCSE Biology has 10 required practicals. Questions in the written exams draw on them — there is no separate coursework mark at GCSE.

This is a GCSE, so there is no A-level-style practical endorsement. Practical skills are assessed only through the written exams. AQA states (Practical assessment page): \"Questions in the written exams will draw on the knowledge and understanding students have gained by carrying out the practical activities listed below. These questions will count for at least 15% of the overall marks for the qualification.\" There are 10 required practical activities that all GCSE Biology students must carry out; schools/colleges must submit a practical science statement confirming completion. Per the spec (section 8.2), practicals 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 are common with GCSE Combined Science (Trilogy and Synergy); practicals 2, 8 and 10 are GCSE Biology only. (Note: the required-practical COUNT differs across the sciences — GCSE Biology has 10, distinct from Combined Science.)
