IB to ATAR Conversion 2026 (Official UAC Table)
UAC published a new IB-to-ATAR schedule in June 2026, for university offers made from August 2026 — and most conversion tables online still show last year’s numbers. Here is the full current schedule, the year-on-year movement, and how the conversion actually works. The Combined Rank below is the national ACTAC conversion used by every state’s admissions centre.

How the IB Admissions Score works
Your IB diploma score out of 45 sums your six subject grades (1–7, SL and HL counted equally) plus up to 3 core points from Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay. For Australian sittings since November 2022, the IB also reports where your mark sits within each grade — admissions centres average that position across your six subjects and notch the result in 0.25 steps to produce your IB Admissions Score (IBAS). The IBAS never changes your integer score: a 35 becomes 35.00 to 35.75, never 34.75 or 36.00.
The IBAS-to-Combined-Rank schedule is rebuilt annually (around February) by ACTAC from the combined candidature of NSW, Victoria, SA and Queensland, anchoring each whole score to its x.50 notch and interpolating between anchors. That is why the conversion moves a little each year — it tracks how IB students actually performed relative to the ATAR cohort.
What changed in the new schedule
Against the August 2025 schedule: the very top barely moved (45.00 stays 99.85), the low 40s and mid-30s edged up slightly (43.00: 98.90 → 99.00; 35.00: 89.75 → 89.90), while scores from the high 20s to around 33 fell by 1.2–1.8 ranks (30.00: 79.90 → 78.20; a whole score of 30: 80.90 → 79.30) before the drop tapers off at the very bottom of the table (24.00 actually ticked up, 64.25 → 64.40). If you saw a conversion online that says an IB 30 is “about 80”, it’s using last year’s table.
Which table does your state use?
The conversion is national — the same ACTAC schedule everywhere — but each admissions centre labels it differently: UAC (NSW/ACT) and TISC (WA) call it the Combined Rank, VTAC (VIC) calls it the Notional ATAR, and QTAC (QLD) and SATAC (SA/NT) also use the Combined Rank. As of July 2026, UAC is the only centre displaying the new August-2026 schedule — the others still show the previous cycle’s table. Some universities layer their own IB adjustments on top (for example, UWA converts the Combined Rank into a higher selection rank), so always check the specific university too.

Australian admissions centres convert IB results to a Combined Rank — an ATAR-equivalent rank — using a single national schedule set annually by ACTAC. Did the IB to ATAR conversion change for 2026-27?

Is the Combined Rank the same as an ATAR?
It's an ATAR-equivalent rank used the same way in admissions, but it isn't an ATAR — VTAC calls it a 'Notional ATAR'. The conversion is national (ACTAC), so the same IB score converts to the same rank in every state; universities may add their own adjustments on top.
When do IB students get their Admissions Score?
