QCE Psychology Past Papers (Sciences)

QCE Psychology sits in the Sciences learning area, so its external assessment is worth 50% of your final result and is examined across two papers — a heavier exam weighting than many students expect.

QCAA introduced external assessment with the current QCE system in 2020, so there are only a handful of past papers per subject — which makes each one worth sitting properly under timed conditions.

Official Psychology external assessment papers (from 2020)

QCAA publishes the past external assessment papers, marking guides and subject reports for Psychology in the Resources → Past papers section of its official syllabus page. They are the exam questions themselves — sit them under timed conditions.

What's on the Psychology exam?

The EA covers Units 3 and 4 — individual thinking (cognition, intelligence, memory and forgetting) and the influence of others (social psychology and psychological disorders and their treatment). It tests recall alongside the interpretation of research data and study design.

At 50% of your result, the external exam is worth as much as all your internal assessment, so it's worth treating with the same rigour as a Maths or Science exam.

How to use the past papers

Do each paper to time, mark against the QCAA marking guide, then read the subject report — for Psychology the report is especially useful for the research-methods and data-analysis questions, which reward a precise, structured answer.

All are in the Resources section of the official syllabus page linked above.
